Training and Educational Opportunities

We are proud of our efforts to build a future workforce at both the high school and college level. Click on the links below to find out more about any of the three programs available in the San Diego area:

We urge our members to lend their support to these institutions by providing entry level positions, apprenticeships and participation in assessment and grading (MetTech) committees.

The NTMA San Diego Chapter is participating in the "Edge Factor," a comprehensive educational program that focuses on generating excitement in young people about technology and the manufacturing process. The goal of the program is to drive that excitement into manufacturing training programs that will build our future workforce. One of the key tools in the Edge Factor's arsenal is it's television series showing real world applications of video technology. View video clips from the TV show here.

We also support the National Robotics League. The National Robotics League (NRL) is a manufacturing workforce development program of the National Tooling & Machining Association (NTMA) where students design and build remote controlled robots (Bots) to face-off in a gladiator-style competition. Through the manufacturing process of Bot building, students’ imaginations are captured as they design, build and compete with their own robotic creations. Through this hands-on effort along with industry partnerships, students gain practical knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) – all essential skills for manufacturing.

And of course, we want to put those well trained, excited people to work. To review the resumes of recent graduates in our certification programs, please click here.
