Workshop for Warriors

Founder and CEO of Workshops for Warriors, Hernán Luis y Prado was our host and speaker on June 23 at our last Chapter meeting. Hernán Luis y Prado served in the United States Navy for fifteen years as a Hospital Corpsman and then as a Surface Warfare Officer. Hernán had three combat tours of duty In Iraq and Afghanistan, and is a graduate of the Navy Surface Warfare Officer School, where he completed the Chief Engineering Officer and Combat Systems Officer curricula. In 2013, Hernán was recognized by the White House as a “Champion of Change” for Workshops for Warriors’ extensive work and achievements to transition military veterans into advanced manufacturing careers. 

Our tour of the shop, Workshop for Warriors enlightened members about what WW provides for veterans and wounded warriors: Advanced manufacturing training, industry-recognized certification/credentials, and 100% job placement for careers in welding, machining, and fabrication at no cost to veterans. Workshops for Warriors’ 16-week classes teach to nationally recognized, third party credentials from the National Institute of Metal Working Skills (NIMS), SolidWorks, Mastercam and American Welding Society.
